Description
This two day course focuses on making a knife meant for use either in the kitchen or the outdoors. Starting with a blank of carbon steel. Students will learn how to forge the blank to shape. Following the rough shaping we will learn the heat treating process from annealing to hardening and finally tempering to achieve a knife with a hard edge and tough back. We then prepare and join our handle material and bolsters to our knife blank. Our knife is then ground and sanded to final shape before final sharpening.
All tools and materials are provided for but students are encouraged to bring their preferred tools and specialty handle material. This is a great course for beginner or intermediate blacksmiths.
