Description

This two day course focuses on making a small camping axe. Starting with a blank of carbon steel. Students will learn how to punch and drift the handle eye and forge it to shape. Then drawing and forming the blade of the hatchet. Following forging the axe we will learn the heat treating process by hardening and tempering the blade edge. We then Finish grinding the axe edge and join our handle and axe head together.

All tools and materials are provided for but students are encouraged to bring their preferred tools if desired. This is a great course for beginner or intermediate blacksmiths.
